Trip to Washington

June 26, 2017-I managed to get an afternoon of birding in on my business trip to Washington. I ended up logging 10 miles of walking round trip to get to a natural preserve called Juanita Bay Park. I found some beautiful birds and managed to get a shot of a Wood Duck and, while they […]Read Post ›

Renewed and Refreshed in Minnesota

June 5, 2017-It’s been a while since I have posted on here. I’m convinced that I have found most of the birds locally, but it really amounts to sheer laziness on my part. Which brings me to this post. A wedding of two friends of mine brought me to Minnesota. In researching the state and […]Read Post ›

Been a While

January 5, 2017- Travelling to Denver over the New Year holiday reignited my passion for birding. As I have successfully located more birds, logically, my ability to add new birds has become more difficult. While there are still hundreds of birds to locate in California, my usual haunts have kind of dried up. So, I’ll […]Read Post ›

Getting back to birding

June 18, 2016- It’s been awhile since I posted anything one here. I haven’t been out birding lately, but want to update 3 pics that I have had. This brings my total to triple digits, 102 to be exact. Two of the images were taken in Colorado and one in Orlando.

Florida Trip

February 20, 2016- A business trip found me in Clearwater, Florida. Obviously I took my camera and did some birding, though not as much as I would have liked. I have a new tab for Florida and a few new birds to add to the overall list.

1st Birding of the New Year

January 17, 2016- Well I didn’t make it to 100 birds last year, finishing at 88. On my first trip of the new year, aided by my son and his special friend, I visited Whiting Ranch. Different seasons bring different birds and I was able to locate two birds to add to the collection. I’m […]Read Post ›

It happened once again……

August 10, 2015- Once again I went to a place looking for a particular bird and found it. Five minutes after arriving at Bolsa Chica yesterday, I located a Kestral sitting on a fence post. He looked a little ragged when I first saw him but managed to preen himself into respectable shape and I […]Read Post ›

Be Careful What You Wish For

August 1, 2015-The first time I went to Irvine Park, I was lamenting the ‘One that got away’. Irvine Park has parrots that make an unbelievable racket and that I saw but was unable to photograph. I went back there this morning and was successful in finding them with my camera. Unfortunately, it was the […]Read Post ›

Time to Catch Up

July 26, 2015-Went out last week to Peter’s Canyon by Irvine Park. Thought I got shut out but a managed to find a female Bullock’s Oriole (I think). This weekend went to a couple of places I’ve been to before, Mason Park and San Joaquin Reserve. I was able to find some new birds from […]Read Post ›

This Weekend

July 12, 2015- This weekend I went to a couple of places that were a little out of the way. Saturday went to Tucker Wildlife Reserve. I don’t believe I’ve had a scarier ride since I took the road to Hana in Hawaii. I went all that way looking for a quail and wasn’t disappointed. […]Read Post ›
