June 14, 2015- It’s been about a month since I’ve been out birding. Partly as a break, partly because I’ve been fighting some pretty nasty bug. Today, though, was as the title denotes, quite a treat. I got together with the other half of the birding dynamic duo (my daughter) and we went to the back bay in Newport Beach to do some birding. I was surprised to find we could go right down to the edge of the bay. Of course some white knuckle sliding down a trail and some sloshing through the mud got us there. We took plenty of shots and I know we got some new birds to add to the list. We even got a rare shot of a leather bird. Actually, not sure what the bird was; I’ll have to research it, but it looked like a bat with feathers. Looking forward to getting together with my girl in the future and adding to this collection.
